These photos are from the book section in Wal-Mart of Our Fair City. Now, I was in this particular section to purchase some DVDs. I was bringing back a few of our favorite Korean cartoons (Bernard, if you interested, and it occurs to me as I type this, that a post about our favorite Korean cartoon would be far more interesting than this dull tidbit from Wal-Mart) to give as gifts and I wanted to be sure I was transporting legit copies across the International Date line.
I confess, when I read these, I wondered about my trusty Wal-Mart. Is it really a Wal-Mart? And what is the deal with these cheap DVDs anyway? While the Wal-Mart DVD pricing is twice as high as Fuzi Miao, we are still talking about spending $2.50US for the latest Harry Potter. Makes you wonder.
And then there's Bernard, our favorite Korean cartoon. Bernard is a white polar bear who bears a striking resemblance on a
metaphysical level to Tom, of Tom and Jerry. He is clumsy, not very
bright and has problems controlling his anger. He and his friends also have the Tom and Jerry gift of physical comedy; there are no words in the DVDs (and you were wondering how we learned Korean so quickly!) His little friends are
Lloyd and Eva, penguins, Zack the lizard and Goliath the chihuahua. And
he is freaking hysterical. We have all of the DVDs (seriously, all. of.
them.) and I secretly think I enjoy them even more than the children.
Here's a link to Bernard on you-tube: Bernard. It's seriously funny, if you like to watch cartoon animals taking out their animated aggressions on each other. Which it seems, I do.
Thanks for the tip on Bernard. I'm addicted now. Oh and this one is funnier! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e3fr5mgtfU&NR=1&feature=fvwp

I have recently developed a fondness for Bernard! There are a number to download (legitimately :) ) via Vuze. http://www.vuze.com/app

Life is made up of sobs, sniffles and smiles with sniffs predominating. Do you understand?
