Let me be clear, I don't mind paying for a potty. 5 rubles in Russia, 5 kuai in China, 2,000 dong in Vietnam, 500 tughrik in Mongolia, 1 euro in Italy, whatever, it's better than crouching under the nearest bush. Just sayin'.
In the CR, there is a high probability you will pay for a potty, even in a shopping mall. There are ladies who sit at portable tables and collect the 5 koruna "toilet tax." I don't have any good photos, but you get the idea from this sneaky i-Touch image.
If you have a young child dancing frantically, they will occasionally let you sneak the kid in without paying, but, generally, you dig up 5 koruna or you get no pot to pee in. And I really don't mind paying, it's just that I don't always have money. I always have change rattling around, but if the currency doesn't match the country I am in, the ladies get huffy.
Jeff, however has the very best Pay Potty story ever. He used one recently where the woman watched him, and charged the fee based on which he used: urinal or stall. I swear, it is always easier to be a guy.

Unbelievablly funny!

I wonder if this was a career goal for these women?
